Our Little Captain Gavin

Here is a video of Gavin, our grandson, from 8/16/2008.  He was just 2 years old at the time.  As you will see, he is telling Grandpa Andy that he is in control of the vessel.  We were headed out the channel from Muskegon Lake to Lake Michigan at the time.  He's going to be a Captain, just like his Daddy (Hollis Barker)!

First Days on Island Time 4/24 & 4/25/08

When Island Time finally was here and in the water, Vern continued to work on the commissioning.  Deb and Andy, with help from Kate (Deb's daughter), worked on provisioning her.  We had been collecting all the "stuff" we needed through the winter:  we even had the dinghy blown up in our basement.  Deb and Kate shopped for what was needed for the galley, for linens, and all the "extras" to make Island Time comfy and homey.  The weather was very cold... in the 30's and 40's, but we had heat, so we spent as much time as possible there.  Andy seemed to always have a list of things to do, and still does!  He keeps busy the entire time we're on the boat, and doesn't seem to mind a bit.

Here is a video of the Maiden Voyage of Island Time in Michigan (Muskegon Lake).  We were moving her from Great Lakes Marina, to Terrace Point Marina (we wish we wouldn't have, and we ended up back at Great Lakes Marina, but that's another story!!).  We are going past where the Ferry comes in and docks, and they are dredging the channel.  Vern and Andy calibrated the chartplotter on the way.  Deb manned the video camera!  A cold but exciting trip.

Andy enjoys doing repairs to the boat himself.  Hold your ears if things don't go well!!  :)  6/22/08

Our New Condo in Stuart FL

We went to Stuart FL during Christmas break, and bought ourselves a present.  Our Condo is at the Harborage Yacht Club and Marina (see link on the right).  We had a great time shopping for furniture, stocking the kitchen, and just lazing around.  Island Time will have her slip right in front of the Condos.  We are on the St. Lucie River, a few miles from the Atlantic Ocean.  Right now in Michigan we have about two feet of snow, and the wind chill was 26 degrees below a few days ago.  Andy, what are we doing here????  :)

Stepping the Mast in Muskegon MI

Vern, from Hellier Yachts in CT, came to Muskegon to commission Island Time.  He was amazing!  Here are some photos of Vern and the staff from Great Lakes Marina stepping the mast (where we had a slip for the boat during the 2008 season).

Island Times's Delivery to Michigan 4-08

Here is a slideshow of Island Time's delivery via semi from CT to MI.  The driver stopped just outside of Lansing for the night.  This was my first in-person visit with Island Time.  I was in tears!

The First Post

Here we are!  Starting a blog for our adventures on Island Time has been a goal of mine for awhile.  I look forward to sharing our journey with y'all!!

Inside Pictures of Island Time

Here are some pictures of Island Time on the inside.  These are the pictures that we were looking at when we were first choosing which boat to buy.
